I've been wondering for a while about swarm - and why one of the better games in apple's toy-store got such a mediocre sequel?
I mean honestly that's what swarm is: You get worthless towers (thumper), "puzzle"-levels (as discussed in a different thread), and where are the "hints", that the advertising text is talking about?
Not talking about the stability-issues...or the childish "you are pwned, grasshopper"...
At this stage, I must say gd has become a building-sim akin Sim-City, a child's game.
Among my colleagues, talk has it gd was quite fun to play, while swarm seems to provoke similar reactions as can be read here as well.
I myself used to be fond of gd, but I feel swarm is a severe letdown. It makes me feel almost sad.
These things may sound harsh, nonetheless it is how I feel.

SPOILER
this link-collection shows you one way to solve it:
First of all - I typically love games of this kind - from the original Starcraft, WoW to less complicated games - meaning. games where there's a build order, a wave of attacks, time pressure, critical resources etc.
This game doesn't work though - it is clearly just a puzzle game on the clock - only one solution possible - kind of like the annoying "perfect run" concept in the old Mario famicom games where everything had to be just right all the way from the beginning with no save spots.
Perhaps it's just on the iPhone 4 - maybe on less capable iPhones it does - but on the iPhone 4 it simply doesn't work - maybe the added power makes the game fun just a tad too fast?
Fundamentally, I think you're supposed to be able to come up with different solutions to each level, and actually be able to finish each level, then come back and polish your score. This game is so rigid that simply finishing a level is enough - I'm thinking of Medium Level 3 on Swarm Lite - this is stupid difficult, simply stupid difficult.
I looked at youtube solutions but they start out with $60 at that level? What's up with that - my (current) version only gives me $48 to start with.
No, this is no fun - uninstalling.
BTW, it's not that I suck at gaming on the iPhone - I'm ranked around 740 out of 4 million players on Angry Birds Rio for example.
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone could post a level by level walkthrough using pictures or a link to a complete video in hardcore mode. for the level Stripes in Geodefense swarm. I've seen finished pictures and can't figure it out (I'm using an iPhone 4 if it helps, I've tried everything else and didn't know if it'd help). Please help!!!
Is geoDefense SWARM comming to Windows Phone 7?!
BTW: geoDefense rocks since last wednesday *g*
I've been a Sprint customer for years and bought an HTC EVO last year. I also bought an iPod touch (I think the second generation) some years back and am a devoted geoDefense fan! Not as much of geoSpark ;-)
Anyway, I found something in the Android store people here might find interesting - HexDefense.
Not exactly a clone but similar enough in the game play and stuff, several gameplay changes and ultimately not as satisfying as either the original geoDefense (my favorite :-) or geoDefense Swarm.
For people like me who are geoDefense fans and also Android users, let me know what you think about the product and how it compares.

I am a huge fan of the geoDefense games, and I especially love geoDefense Swarm. The other day I had an idea... what if I could make my own levels for geoDefense Swarm? I had a look at how the existing game levels are made, and it turns out they're a simple but awesome XML format, so I decided I'd try to make a level creator/editor program for geoDefense Swarm.
This is what I came up with....
NOTE: I created this for my personal use only. I have no intentions to release it. Also, to play custom-built levels, you need to have access to your device's file system (AKA you must be jailbroken).

I'm still working on it, but that's it so far. It makes fully playable levels for geoDefense Swarm, which is insanely awesome. :)
There has never been a "lite" version of geoDefense Swarm, but there is now! A free app, it has a subset of the levels of geoDefense Swarm but it's at the 1.6 Update level. This means it has the new Retina graphics for you iPhone 4 owners. Worth checking out (did I mention it's free?) while we wait for Apple to approve the 1.6 update for Swarm.

OK, I have managed all of the updates except for Chromasome, The Groove, Trickle Down, and Skippy's Revenge. I feel like I am super close to all of them but I just can't think of any other possible solutions. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even spoilers will be great for my sanity at this point!!!
