How are some of these people getting such high scores.....????????

Is there in open feint when it shows your hight score on a level to also see what that is overall?  Sometimes I have to scroll through quite a few pages to find mine :(

This is a great game david!!!!   good job.... but please add "," to the scores :)

Highscores

They are taking advantage of the scoring system.

Each creep is worth 1 point times your multiplier (in the middle top of screen).

The multiplier goes up by 1 for each creep killed.  Unless you kill to very near its exit, in which it is worth more... like X5, X10 and more... depending on how close it was.  So killing a creep right at the last moment is worth a lot of multiplier bonus.  And that just keeps racking up the points!

Build Towers from the Exit towards the Spawn instead of the other way around.  This is risky, hence why the scoring system rewards that!

highs

Is there any plans to add high scores to this site?  i checked on openfeint's site hoping to find them there (instead of just in the game)...

Sometimes I have to scroll through quite a few pages to find mine :(  Either that or please when it shows my high score in open feint it also shows me the overall rank.....(that may be something for them to have to change).....but i'd really like to know if i'm 30th of 500 or 499 of 500 :(  there isn't any easy way to do that...

the difficulty is GREAT (although i still don't understand those pink thumper(?) towers yet)..it's taking a LOT longer to get through easy than geodefense did :)

I don't know how openfeint

I don't know how openfeint works but it would also be great if it saved all of our highscores. I write down some scores now to see what strategies worked the best so i can make a better score.

How do you get such high

How do you get such high scores on this game??? on the opening easy level my high score is 45,695, and I kill every creep, most near my base, yet the highest score on open feint is a rediculous 122,935,800 - which to me seems to be mathematically impossible given the number of waves and creeps!

I really dont understand how to get high scores.  I have just completed all of the easier levels, but my scores seem to be absolute rubbish compared to everyone else on open feint???

Please help, coz this is a cool game!

Cheers

The best way to get hi scores

The best way to get hi scores is to kill the creeps at the very last moment just at the exit and ur score gets multiplied x50

hope that helps

Hi dude,   Yes I understand

Hi dude,

Yes I understand the bit about killing at the last moment, but the highest score on openfeint is still 2700 times higher than my score.  I'm no mathematician but surely that is impossible?

I'm a pretty competitive guy and it annoys me that I cant get anywhere near that sort of score !!!

I hear ya dude I can't get

I hear ya dude I can't get anywhere near those scores either maybe that's why there is a thread on openfeint cheats seeing is believing I suppose but I very much doubt there is any of that going on

Does anyone know what the

Does anyone know what the highest multiplier is?  In some ways marshal is correct.  There are 36 creep in level 1 easy.  The highest I've seen is x50.  So assuming you get x50 for every single creep out there that's a multiplier of x1801.  The creep seem to increase by 5 points each round.  The last round being worth 30 each.  So presumably the very last creep of the last round will get the 1801 multipler.  1801x30 = 54030.  That means the last guy (the guy worth the most) still needs to die a couple of thousand more times to get to 122mill.  There were only 35 creep before him and they were all worth less.

I didn't look at the leaderboards so I don't know if the 122mill is real but from what I've seen about the scoring it does seem to be impossible to reach that score.  Again, unless someone can enlighten me about some other variables that I didn't take into account.

I agree 122M is impossible on E1

I confirmed tchan24's calculations & also calculated the highest possible score for the first level.

The highest multiplier I've seen in Swarm is 50x - hat is if a creep dies on the exit (assumably just a pixel away from freedom).  On Easy: Beginner Swarm there are 6 waves of 6 creeps each.  The creeps in the first wave are worth 5 points each, and each wave increases by 5 points, so that the creeps in the 6th wave are worth 30 points.  If you kill each creep near the entrance and get a 1x multiplier for each, you will end the level with a multiplier of 37x and a score of 15,435.  I tested this & confirmed the math.  So, assuming you kill each & every creep at the 50x point, you would achieve the maximum possible high score.  Well, according to my calculation that is 740,880 (assuming they are killed in the order that they exit).

Correct me if I am wrong...

 nsxdavid, Couldn't you

 nsxdavid,

Couldn't you calculate the highest scores for each level and than remove the cheaters from the leaderboard? Do you have that kind of control over the leaderboard? The first thing people do when they first look at Openfeint is look at the leaderboard easy level one. Blatant cheating is seen. Why not clean up that eye sore? Is cheating going to be addressed? Any input would be great. Thanks!

High scores

Those incredibly high scores come from two things:

1. Increasing the multiplier by killing the creeps as closely as possible to the red exit point. Killing a creep just before it explodes in the red adds 50 to your multiplier.

2. Juggling. WTF is juggling? As best as I can describe it is this...you block all possible paths to the exit except for one. You allow the creeps to get almost all the way to the exit, then you sell one of your towers way back near the beginning, which opens up an alternate route to the exit. Then you quickly place a tower to block the first route. Then the creeps will go all the way back to the beginning to the newly opened route. Once they get there, you sell the tower near the exit, and place a tower near the beginning blocking that route. The creeps have no choice but to move back to the only open route. So they run the gauntlet of all of your towers again. To me, this is incredibly boring, and it's only for the people who want to see themselves way up on the leaderboards in that OpenFeint nonsense. I HATE OpenFeint in the game, and even though you can refuse to upload to OF, you still get the "advertising" in your face. I'm sure that OF probably pays a premium to game developers to route users to their service, so I doubt if you will see it removed or completely disabled. But I digress...gamers use the back-and-forth-back-and-forth-place-a-tower-sell-a-tower method to get the huge scores. You can juggle all day and get a stupid high score if you want, but frankly I have better things to do with my time. In one of the levels, you MUST use the juggling method to beat the level, so you will get a chance to try it out for yourself. (It's the level with the "?" and "!" in it, the name of which escapes me ATM.)

Incredibly high scores are impossible

You didn't look at the calculations done...even if you got 50x multiplier on EVERY creep on the board you still wouldn't get the score thats posted.

Juggling also only applies on endless levels.
