Android

Android would be a big porting job.... main reason?  It's written in Objective-C.  Not impossible, but not a quick-and-easy thing either. :/

Android

The best game on the iphone/touch are the GeoDefense games. Many people think this. Port this to android, and it would be the best game BY FAR in the android market place. Gaming on the android is an untouched goldmine, not unlike the early days of the itunes app store. In many minds, you would rule the hand held space when it came to casual games. The top android market game is called "Robo Defense" and pales in comparison to GD/GDS. PLEASE consider porting them. Heck, hire someone to port it. nsxdavid could rule both app stores. One game to rule them all :) At least mull over the android possibilities:)

I agree

I have to agree.  I stole a friends iphone and played GD until the battery ran out.  I am a huge addict, er,  fan of tower defense games, and GD seems very well done.  With Android second in the market only to RIM, and constantly growing, you actually would have a better market than Apples.

I, for one, would get it as soon as it is released :)

How Big?

Firstly, I agree with the previous posters that it would be a huge success. I know that myself and my friends with android phones would kill for a top class tower defense game, and geodefense is the undeniable best. It was easily my #1 game on my touch til that decided it didn't want to work any more.

I know that I would pay extra for the ported version. More than the iphone version.

Also, I'm sure im of no use, but I'd offer any help I can give for free. I do have experience in objective c as well as other languages.

Absolutely agree

I agree with this idea so much that I created an account just to say so. I had my iPhone stolen last October and replaced it with a droid this  January. My droid is better in every way but one: the games suck badly. GeoDefense was my favorite game on the iPhone and I would really like to see it ported to android. I'd pay for it again... :)

+1

i've just registered myself to chime in. It's a great game, and Android is a huge untapped market. It's no longer a case of 'if' android takes off, it has. And it's growing every day, there are some beasts of phones out there already and a huge wave more to come.

Make an Android version and you'll pretty much have the best game on the market! I'm not a coder so I don't know the ins and outs and how easy it is, but I do know it would be an instant success, sell by the bucketload, and be front page news on half the android blogs/fansites upon release.

It's gotta be worth it! PLEASE!

Plus as much as I love the game, no way am I spending 100 odd quid on an ipod touch just for it! Although I was tempted for a split second the other day!

Critical Thought Games on Android

I had an iPhone and have moved to Nexus One.  I'll agree with posters here as well.  I will pay for a quality game on Android just as I paid for GDS on iPhone.  The game quality on Android is pretty low right now and it wouldn't take much to get a legion of Android users to purchase something if you had a good port of these games.

 Im also very interested. I

Im also very interested. I have bought geodefense swarm 3 times in iphones/ipods of other people just to be able to play it. I love the games but I have an android phone(way better than iphone). This is the sort of app the android is missing. I would be willing to buy the game before it came out to support development for it.

Theres already a copy of it in the app store and the android market called retro defense if you dont act quickly they might win the big part of the android market you deserve.

Cheers

I would like to point out

I would like to point out that an official NDK has been available for Android since June 2009.

Porting the game should be a relatively simple process and be compatible for Android phones running 1.5 and higher, which is 99.8% of all Android phones. ( Source: http://developer.android.com/resources/dashboard/platform-versions.html )

I'd like to echo the above

I'd like to echo the above comments, I'd pay real £££ for an Android port of GeoDefense. The Android gaming scene really is terrible, in fact, the Android App scene in general is light years behind Apple's.

I tried this on a friends

I tried this on a friends iphone and loved it, would also be interested in purchasing an android version.

Loved the creep explosions :)

Closest match I could find on Android was "Bubble Defense" ... which isn't nearly as good.

Bye

David, I put it to you that

David,

I put it to you that Android is now so big that you will have to do this at some point, even if you get someone in to port it for you. It's a recession, it shouldn't be hard to get someone with the right experience. You might as well go ahead and get it rolling and get the income sooner rather than later...

Please?

Now just have to find someone who'd want and be able to do the Android port.... :)

I'd purchase it straight away too.

G'day,

Just wanted to let you know that I would love you to release GeoDefence for Android. I would buy it instantaneously it arrived on the Android market (and I put myself in peril here in saying... even if it cost >$5 ).

Please find it in your heart to port it!

cheers,

Warwick
